Location: SkyTV (shot at Battersea Arts Centre, London, UK)
Duration: 5 hours
Lepidopterophobia Exercise was a televised performance for Marina Abramović’s takeover of SkyTV which aired in December 2020. During 5 hours, the artist sits immobile in a glass cube filled with atlas moths
(Attacus Atlas) and owl butterflies (Caligo Eurilochus). These correspond to the artist’s lifelong lepidopterophobia (irrational fear of large moths and butterflies – specifically ones with eye-patterns).
